Australia may become a big exporter of organic hemp products, especially to Asia, according to the president of the Australian Industrial Hemp Alliance (AIHA).
“Australia has half the world’s certified organic farmland,” James Vosper told CBD-Intel. “Australian farm products and high quality vegetable protein products, especially organic farm products, are very trusted, are highly regarded for their quality, especially in China and Japan.
“We see a huge emerging industry in making high quality organic hemp products for the Asian market.”
As it stands, Australia is still importing hemp products from several countries, particularly China and Canada. But the hemp export/import ratio could be set to change with the emergence of a home-grown organic CBD industry.
